「研究の目的」秋田県には古くから数多くの鉱山が存在し、重要な産業として長く地域の経済を支えてきた。しかし、近年、資源の枯渇と円高の影響のため、平成6年に県内すべての鉱山がついに閉山した。それから20年以上経過した今、当時の繁栄を知る人たちは高齢化し、現在地元住人にもかつてそこに鉱山が存在したことが忘れ去られようとしている。今、地域を活力あるものにするためには、地元を再認識することが必要である。かつて、ここに鉱山があったことを知り、伝えていく手段として鉱山史料が存在する。この史料を活用して、地域の歴史・文化を次世代へと保存・伝承していくことが重要であると考える。「研究実施計画」秋田県内各地の鉱山跡地周辺には、鉱山史料を保管している資料館が存在する。しかし、これらの史料はまとめられていないのが現状であり、このままでは無くなってしまう可能性もある。これらは秋田県の鉱山を学ぶ上で極めて重要であり、早急に整理しておく必要がある。現在、秋田大学鉱業博物館では、各鉱山資料館の中心となり、相互の連携をはかっている。こうした資料館の協力を得て、史料調査を行う。「研究の成果」本研究において、秋田県内各地にある鉱山資料館12館における鉱山史料1,300点をまとめることができた。これらの鉱山史料は、古文書・絵巻物・掛け軸・道具・機械・製品・中間物等に分類し、大きさを計測し、写真映像を記録した。また、時代については江戸・明治・大正・昭和・平成に分類し、地域ごとに比較できるようにまとめた。今後、秋田大学鉱業博物館が県内鉱山資料館の拠点的役割を担っていく上で、各資料館及び各方面からの鉱山関係に関する問い合わせに対して、この史料データを用いて答えていくことが可能となった。各資料館においてもこの情報を知ることが可能となった。今回の鉱山史料調査結果は、これまで分かっている秋田県に存在する選鉱場・製錬場・坑道・露天掘り跡などの鉱山産業遺産とともに、秋田県における鉱山の歴史・文化を知り、伝えていくための教育用資料として活用できると考えている。
