○研究目的本研究では注目されているバイオエタノールを中学校理科の中で教材として扱うことで循環社会に対する興味・関心を高める効果を明らかにすることを目的とした。また,その効果を高めるための具体的な方策や安全性の確保などに関わる指導上の留意点について検討することも目的とした。○研究方法本研究は本校第3学年の選択教科理科の中で実践を行った(第3学年84名中履修者は17名)。はじめに履修者を対象としてバイオエタノール作成に関する基本的な知識及び実験技能の習得させるための授業を行った。次に履修者を対象として利点と問題点を考えさせる授業を行った。この段階で中学校3年生全員を対象に質問紙による意識調査を行った。履修者の考えた利点や問題点と意識調査の結果をもとにバイオエタノールに関する課題を設定し,2〜4人のグループごとに課題解決のために研究を行った。研究成果はグループごとにまとめ,他の第3学年の生徒(対象者67名)に必修教科の時間を利用してポスターセッションを行い,研究成果を発表した。また,本校の選択教科発表会で第1学年の生徒(対象者14名)にも研究成果を発表した。各ポスターセッション終了後には発表に関する質問紙調査を対象者全員に行った。第3学年の生徒には事前調査と同じ質問紙による調査も行った。○研究成果バイオエタノールに対して履修者全員の関心が高まっていた。そして,履修者全員がその利点と問題点を理解し,その利用だけでなく現在のエネルギー問題について自分の考えを持つことができていた。特に,バイオマスのエネルギー利用による食料利用との競合問題については実験で得られた定量的なデータをもとにして考察が展開できていた。履修者以外にはポスターセッションを通して学習内容を発表することで履修者と同様にバイオエタノールに対する関心や知識を高めることができた。これらの学習効果を得るためには定量的な実験を計画するとともに,問題の所在の考察や仮説の設定,考察のすすめ方,発表方法などを計画的に指導する必要がある。
