近年、個人情報の漏洩が大きな社会問題として取り上げられている。その大きな原因は、情報を扱う人々の個人清報やセキュリティーに関する意識の低さと、基礎的な知識の不足である。この問題を解決するためには、若年層の情報教育は必要不可欠である。そのため、義務教育における横断的な情報教育を実施することは、基礎的な知識を与え、セキュリティー意識を育てることになると考え、本研究を設定した。中学校では学級担任の子どもとの関わりが強いため、「学級活動」・「道徳」・「総合的な学習の時間」などを横断的に活用しての情報教育が可能である。「学級活動」の時間では、学級文集や卒業アルバムのデジタル化を進める中で住所録や、個人の写真の扱いについての基礎を理解させる。また、「道徳」の時間において、多くの生徒が携帯電話を持ち、インターネットに接続されたコンピュータを使える環境をふまえて、インターネットの仕組みを理解し、その上で正しいインターネット上でのルール、エチケットを学ぶ場として環境を整備した。「総合的な学習の時間」における情報教育では、文化的行事(文化祭、合唱コンクール、百人一首大会など)、体育的行事(体育祭、球技大会など)、儀式的行事(卒業式、入学式など)、宿泊行事(キャンプ、修学旅行)、部活動(試合、練習)などをビデオ、写真で撮影しDVD-VIDEO、電子アルバムを作成し、必要な時に利用できる環境を整え、必要に応じてWebでも公開した。これらの情報教育を、個々の授業として終わらせることなく、デジタル文集・デジタル卒業アルバム製作という形で、創造的活動の中で実体験として体験しながら学ぶことができるように、学習指導案、総合資料を制作した。
