本研究では,小学校5年生の「雪国の暮らし」において同期型CSCL(Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning)を用いた共同学習のプログラムを開発し,評価をすることを目的とした。新潟県魚沼市立小出小学校と茨城県神栖市立矢田部小学校で,同期型CSCLを利用して,以下のような学習内容で共同学習を実施した。(1)自己紹介をしよう(班ごとに写真を貼り付けて,名前や趣味を書き込み交流した)(2)クイズ「雪国の暮らし」で交流しよう(小出小学校がクイズを出し,同期型で交流をした)(3)「雪国の遊び」について交流しよう(矢田部小学校が質問し,同期型で交流をした)同期型CSCLを利用することで,両校のユーザが共同で一枚のシートに情報を書き込め,シートの操作やマウスの動きもリアルタイムでモニターすることができた。そのため,遠隔地であっても一体感のある学習が可能となった。(1)の非同期型の交流よりも,(2)や(3)の同期型の交流の方が「心理的な距離感」が縮まることが明らかとなった。また,同期型の交流を重ねることで,一問一答式の交流ばかりでなく,ローカルな書き込みが増え自由な交流が多く見られるようになった。ローカルな交流から,雪国について発展的な内容での交流が生起し,高次の雪国学習を行うことができた。同期型CSCLは,学習者同士の心理的距離感を縮め,より高次の共同学習を行うためのツールとして有効に利用されていた。本研究では魚沼市立小出小学校の学習者の分析を中心に行った。ローカルな交流が生起し,学習を発展させる要因を詳細に分析するために,交流相手である神栖市立矢田部小学校の学習者の分析も行う必要がある。
