项目摘要

熊本に身近な有明海でも、かつて「寛政大津波」が起こっており、その津波の実態と被害状況をよく理解してもらうことこそ意識啓発につながると考え、津波防災資料を作成し啓発を行った。1、津波防災を自分の問題として捉えるには、地域住民(熊本の人々)に身近な有明海でも、「寛政大津波」により大被害を被っていることを知らせ、津波防災の意識高揚を図った。2、「寛政大津波の被害・波先浸入域を図示し、防災意識の高揚・啓発を図る資料(CD版を添付)」を作成し、啓発活動を行った。3、報告書には次の2点を盛り込んだ。(1)、熊本側沿岸部への浸水域を、北から玉名平野、熊本平野沿岸部など4つに区分し「波先浸入図」を作成した。(2)、寛政大津波では主な河川で、どこまで津波が遡上したかを明らかにした。このうち緑川水系加勢川では川床地下より津波跡を発見した。4、津波防災の鉄則は「早く、高台へと逃げる。」であり、その意識を高められるように、平成19年6月と10月の二回に亘り寛政大津波の波先浸入跡を尋ねる巡検会を実施した。5、「島原大変による寛政大津波」の報告書は、熊本市を中心とする生涯学習施設(公民館等)、消防署、有明海沿岸地域の各学校、図書館などに送付し、活用をお願いしている。
