原価計算は,原価要素の取得または確保から始まって,これらの消費額を原価計算対象に積み上げていく計算過程を明らかにすることである。本研究は,その計算過程を一種の「流れ」として捉え,「流れ図」を使用して指導する方法を研究・開発したものである。この指導法は,原価の集計プロセスをモデル化し,視覚化して教えることにその特長がある。この指導法によれば,生徒は,原価の集計過程を直感的,視覚的に理解することができるので,より深く集計過程を理解することができる。このアイディアは,早稲田大学大学院会計研究科教授小林啓孝先生が考案された「インプット→アウトプット流れ図」をベースとしたものである。「インプット→アウトプット流れ図」は,発生原価配分の論理を図解したもので,これにもとづいて学習することによって,生徒は,どういう流れの仮定にもとづいて原価が配分され,どの原価配分の公式を適用あるいは併用できるのかを,視覚的,論理的に理解できるようになる。『原価計算の基礎知識(原価計算編)』は,この「インプット→アウトプット流れ図」を,さらに応用・発展させた「原価の流れ図」を中核とした指導法を著したものである。また,本書には,原価計算の学習に活用できるe-ラーニング教材もセットされている。「原価の流れ図」による学習は,生徒が原価の流れを総括的に捉える洞察力,原価の流れを系統的に整理する能力を養うことができる。また,高等学校における原価計算の学習では,原価計算の問題を解くことも重要であると考えられるため,「原価の流れ図」を中核とした指導法は,この面においても大きな貢献が期待でき,生徒が問題文を理解するための問題文の読解力,解答や解法を論理的に推理する思考力,問題を正確に解くための計算力を養うことができる。
