【研究目的】シバヤギでは下顎が上顎よりも短い「短顎変異」が発現する。申請者は昨年度の調査により、短顎形質による採食能力の低下を行動学的手法から分析した。この採食能力低下は、ヤギの採食様式で重要な『上顎歯床板と下顎切歯の噛みあわせ』という機能において、形態的な不都合が生じるためであると考えられた。そこで今年度は、頭骨の形態学的分析から短顎変異の特徴を明らかにすることを目的とし、シバヤギ頭骨標本の計測ならびに統計学的な解析を行った。【研究方法】シバヤギ51個体(♂31,♀20)の頭骨標本を用いた。頭骨形態を特徴づける26ヶ所の部位について、デジタルノギスで0.01mmまで測定した。なお本調査では上下の噛みあわせに着目し、計測した上顎と下顎の長さの比を「顎長比」と定義して分析した。計測値は4ヶ月齢以下(♂9,♀5)と5ヶ月齢以上(♂22,♀15)に分け(1)雌雄差を検定した後に(2)顎長比の分布分析とクラス分け、(3)各計測部位の顎長比クラス間での比較、(4)主成分分析による頭骨全体の形態的特徴を解析した。また歯列異常の発生状況を観察し(5)顎長比クラスごと歯列異常の発生状況も検証した。【結果と考察】統計的に顎長比は3クラスに分類(短顎/正常/下顎突出)された。計測結果を総合的に分析すると、短顎個体の下顎骨は(1)長さ・高さなど全体的に縮小、しかし(2)臼歯列長には有意差がなく、(3)歯隙の短縮が著しい、また頭蓋骨では(3)全体的に長さには差がない、(4)幅は顔面頭蓋では差がないが、脳頭蓋は狭くなっている、などの特徴が明らかになった。また主成分分析では、PC1が下顎の長さ、PC2が脳頭蓋の幅と長さを表し、プロットすると雌雄と顎長比クラスがおよそ分離される傾向が認められた。今回観察された欠如歯は正常個体1例を除いてすべて切歯であり、臼歯の萌出は比較的安定していることが示唆された。

[Objective] The occurrence of "short jaw variation" in lower jaw and upper jaw. The applicant responded to the survey conducted last year by analyzing the low feeding capacity and behavior of the short jaw. The feeding ability is low, the feeding pattern is important, and the function and shape are not combined. This year, the morphological analysis of cranium, short jaw and different characteristics, the purpose, the measurement of cranium and statistical analysis were carried out. [Methods] 51 individuals (31, 20) were selected for the study. The shape of the skull was measured at 26 locations, and the digital diameter was 0.01mm. In this study, the ratio of upper jaw length to lower jaw length was measured and analyzed. The measurement values ranged from 4 months or less (9, 5) to 5 months or more (22, 15).(1) After the male and female differences were determined,(2) The distribution analysis of jaw length ratio and the analysis of jaw length ratio,(3) The comparison of jaw length ratio between different measurement sites,(4) The analysis of morphological characteristics of the skull as a whole by principal component analysis. (5) Jaw length ratio and occurrence of tooth abnormality [Results] The statistical jaw length ratio was classified into three categories (short jaw/normal jaw/prominent jaw). The measurement results were analyzed comprehensively. The mandible of short jaw individuals was (1) reduced in length and height,(2) intentionally different in tooth row length,(3) shortened in tooth space,(3) different in cranium length,(4) different in facial cranium, narrow in cranium, and different in characteristics. Principal component analysis showed that PC1 and PC2 had a tendency to differentiate between male and female jaw length. This is the first time that a person has been diagnosed with a disease.
