英文摘要
Thomas Mumer's (1475-1537) translation of Virgils Aeneis, the leading poetic text in the educational world of Western Europe, is the first German translation and the only one up to the translation of the Augsburg master singer Johannes Spreng (1610). The 13th book of Maffeo Vegio, in which the plot is completed to a certain extent, is attached to the 12 books of Virgil, according to the print tradition of the Aeneis. The historical as well as the cultural significance of Mumers German Aeneis is emphasized by one of the best experts on the subject: „it belongs to the most important German translations of the 16th century. (Worstbrock, VL Humanismus 2,2013, Sp. 356f). The two expert opinions on the first application unanimously emphasised the interdisciplinary significance of an edition to be presented here. Mumer wants his translation to be used as a tool for learning the Latin language. In addition to the German verses, he also places the incipits of the corresponding Latin text in sections in the margin, so that one can (and should) always compare them. Our edition offers the text of the German Aeneis in the historical mode of use targeted by Mumer: the German text is contrasted synoptically with Mumer's Latin version, a procedure which was unanimously welcomed in both reports on the first application. The Untersuchungsteil presents selected research results on the historical location of Mumers translations and opens up paths to future questions.
