西欧世界を中心に論じられてきた20世紀モダニズム芸術解釈において、1990年代の東欧革命以後、旧イディッシュ語圏出身の芸術家たちの果たしてきた役割に注目した研究が進められるようになってきた。とりわけエコール・ド・パリの芸術家たちの正確な作品解釈には、彼らの芸術世界を育んだイディッシュ文化に関する理解が不可欠である。本研究は、イディッシュ語圏の文化についての基礎研究を踏まえつつ、1、19世紀末～20世紀初頭のイディッシュ語圏における表現芸術が、この時期の西欧モダニズムの東欧への流人によってどのような影響を受けたのか、2、両者の間でどのような文化的接触が行われたか、について解明することが目的である。その手掛かりとして、1、7月にドイツ・ワイマールで開催されたイディッシュ文化に関するワークショップ「イディッシュ・サマー・ワイマール」に参加し、欧米の第一線の研究者らとユダヤ民衆の舞踏文化についての情報交換と意見交換を行った。その結果、1、一般的に欧米由来の「フォークダンス」として表面的に認識されてきたユダヤ民衆のダンスには、従来ユダヤ固有のダンスではなかった周辺の非ユダヤ文化のダンスが「典型的な」ユダヤのダンスとして受容され、定着したこと、2、シャガールの絵画作品のなかで描かれる音楽家や舞踏家の表現は、多様な様式と役割を担ったクレズマー音楽と舞踏のスタイルの実際に沿ったものであることが判明した。周辺の異教文化との接触を通して多様化をみせたイディッシュ文化について、美術や音楽、舞踏など表象芸術諸領域の枠を越えて読み解く本研究の方法は、文化的多層性を特徴とする東欧ユダヤ系芸術家の作品解釈を進める上で大変有効であった。ワークショップ参加の成果は、研究協力者・赤尾光春氏らと共催した11月6日のシンポジウム「芸術モダニズムにおけるローカリズムと反ローカリズム」(於:大阪大学)および、1月22日のワークショップ「信仰とパフォーマンス:イディッシュ語圏における舞踏文化の伝統と変革」(同)で報告した。

Western Europe is the center of the world, and the world is the center of the world. The correct understanding of the art world and culture is indispensable. This study aims at: 1. the cultural development of the language circle from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century; 2. the cultural contact between the two cultures; 3. the cultural development of the language circle from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century; 4. the cultural development of the language circle from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. In January and July, researchers from the first line of Europe and America exchanged information and opinions on popular dance culture. The results are as follows: 1. The origin of the general European rice is "white rice" and the surface is recognized by the people. The inherent characteristics of the future are "typical" and the non-traditional culture is contained. 2. The painting works are composed of music and dance. A lot of things happen. The study method and cultural multi-layer characteristics of Eastern European artists 'works are discussed in detail. The results of the participation in the study were reported by research collaborator Mitsuharu Akao on November 6, 2011."The Art of Culture"(at Osaka University)."Faith" on January 22, 2011.
