本研究では、明治中期から後期における文章ジャンルと作文教育史との接点を解明し、現行の作文教育に応用できる可能性を検討することを目的とした。明治二十年代から三十年代においては、「叙事文」「記事文」などの文章ジャンルがその作法書とともに乱立した時期であるが、四十年代にかけては消えていく。そこには1886(明治19)年から1900(明治33)年に「綴り方」の名称で国語科に編入するまでの14年間に存在した作文科独立期の影響が大きい。「形式的模倣期」ともいわれる作文科独立期は実り少なかったとされるが、その要因を考察するとともに現在の作文教育に援用できる可能性を模索した。そこで、今まで検討されてこなかった教育関係雑誌媒体における実践報告や理論に注目した。同時期主要教育雑誌である『教育時論』『教育報知』『大日本教育会雑誌』を対象とし、網羅的に作文関係記事をリストアップして同時期作文作法書も含めて考察した。また、それらを踏まえて現行の作文教育における説明文の定義を再検討し授業実践に活用した。結果、明らかになったのは以下の二点である。(1)関係記事からは、作文独立期の教育者は、形式的模倣に因循と堕したのではなく、基盤的「思想」力の涵養という初発の目的を看過したため、自由主義的作文にもスキルとしての合目的的作文技術にも結実することができなかった。(2)実用や思考力酒養という目的から離れた文章ジャンルは、作文のための作文という自己撞着に陥った。これらは現行作文教育、特に説明的文章の作文指導に対して示唆に富む。特に、この時期の叙事文と記事文の定義の曖昧さは現代にも通じるものである。本年度は、作文科独立期の末期に生まれた写生文という新たな文種が持ちえた報告文としての可能性を再検討し「〈報道〉する写生文-寒川鼠骨から西遼一へ-」(『日本文学』2010/12)に論文化した。今後、研究全体を踏まえ、さらなる成果を公表予定である。

This study aims to clarify the connection between the history of composition education and the application of composition education in the middle and late Meiji periods. Meiji 1920's, 1930's, 1940's. From 1886(Meiji 19) to 1900(Meiji 33), the name of "Zirifang" was incorporated into the national language department for 14 years, and the influence of the independent period of the liberal arts existed greatly. This is the first time that we've had a chance to talk about education, media, and theory. The main educational journals of the same period include "Educational Times","Educational Information" and "Journal of the Great Japan Education Association". This paper discusses the definition and application of the present composition education. As a result, the following two points were recorded. (1)The relationship between the independent period of the composition of the educator, the form of imitation, the basis of the "thought" force of the initial development of the purpose, the liberal composition of the end of the composition technology (2)The author of this article, the author of this article, This article is about the current composition education, special description of the article and composition guidance, and the rich information.
