本研究の目的は,(1)日韓の初等教育高学年児童の英語学習動機は,どのような因子から構成されているのかを明らかにする,(2)日韓の初等教育高学年児童の英語学習動機の差異及び学年間の差異を明らかにする,(3)日韓の初等教育高学年の英語学習動機は英語授業の満足度にどのように影響を及ぼしているのかを明らかにする,であった。研究方法は,(1)日韓の初等教育高学年児童約800名(各400名)に質問紙調査を行い,両国児童の英語学習動機を探索的因子分析により分析する,(2)各因子得点を多重比較することにより,日韓両国の英語学習動機の差異及び学年間の差異を分析する,(3)日韓の英語学習動機は授業の満足度にどのような影響を及ぼしているのか多変量解析により分析する,(4)韓国の高学年英語授業を観察,ビデオ記録し,韓国の授業の特徴が児童の授業の満足度にどのように影響を及ぼしているのかを検証する,の5つの手順をとることとした。研究を進めるにあたっては,8月と12月に現地調査を行い,現在,統計ソフトを活用して,アンケートを分析している段階である。現在分析途中であるが,「内発的」,「外発的」,「有用性・不安回避」,「異文化への興味」からなる4因子が見出されている。今後は,満足度がそれらの因子にどのように影響しているのかパス解析を行い,日韓の比較を行う。調査の結果を関連学会に論文発表する予定であるが,現在はまだ分析の段階であり,研究発表を行っていない。
