[研究目的]EFL(英語圏以外の地域で英語を外国語として教える)環境の日本では、言語社会化(Schieffelin&Ochs,1986)の観点からみると、中高の英語教員は主たる英語言説(言語で表象される英語についての慣習や考え方)の伝え手あると考えられる。この観点に立ち本研究は異なった地域(都市部、都市郊外、山間部)で英語を教える中高の教員に対し、「英語を英語で教える」という学習指導要領の改変を前に1学年にわたって各4回のインタビューを行い、英語についての社会化に影響の大きい「教員の英語教育言説」を探求する。[データ収集の進度]ほぼ計画通りの研究協力者(中高2名ずつ)(男女2名ずつ)(30代1、40代2、50代1)が集まり、現時点で3回目までのインタビューが完了している。3月末に予定をしていた第4回目のインタビューは研究協力者が3月11日に発生した震災対応のため多忙となり4月改めて計画することとなった。[分析の進度]デジタル録音したインタビューデータは、3月末の段階で学習指導要領改変に関連する部分を中心に30%程度のかきおこしが完了している。そのなかから試分析として会話分析(CA)でラッチとよばれる、第一話者が第二話者の発話に畳み掛けるように次の発話をする現象について細密分析をおこなった。[研究発表]本研究に関連し背景研究と試分析を国際学会で発表した。米国シカゴにて開催された米国応用言語学会年次大会では、上述のCAによる細密分析について発表した。「話し手が聞き手の持たない知識を主張するときにみられるラッチ」が「現場の言説」を表象する話題(ESLとEFLの差、文法訳読の利点など)に関してデータに散見され点について、フーコーの「力の行使」とう観点から論じた。聴衆からはラッチが研究参加者の「力の行使」塾を意味するのかについて異論が出た。この点は今後の分析の課題となった。
