重度重複障害時の期待感が心拍に影響し、心拍が期待感を計る尺度となり得るか検討した。本研究では実際の指導場面において、重度重複障害の子どもが「学習の状況を把握しやすい手がかりの選定と提示方法」、「状況理解の程度」等を、拍数を利用してアセスメントを試みた。方法としては、対象児に、パルスオキシメータを装着し、対象児とパルスオキシメータを同時にビデオ撮影し、教材の呈示の仕方や声かけの仕方の違いによる期待心拍反応の出現比率を比較した。本実験に先立ち、プレ実験として訪問指導場面の行動をビデオ撮影し、期待心拍反応と思われる変化を観察した。その結果、タンバリンや太鼓など、大きな音を伴う活動の始まりに心拍の低下が見られることがあった。しかし、特定の場面で必ず反応がある訳でもないことも示唆された。様のアプローチをしていると考えられる活動において、ある日は心拍の低下があり、ある日は低下が見られないことも多かった。対象児(小学2年:重度重複障害)は、かかわりがない場面においても心拍数の変化はあり、覚醒状態や気温等等が影響していた。プレ実験後、活動で使う教材を提示するときに、(1)音声によるインフォメーション、(2)音声+触覚によるインフォメーション、(3)音声+触覚+教材の出す音によるインフォメーションの3パターンを作って係わることにした。その結果、(1)>(2)>(3)のように期待心拍反応の頻度は高まっていた。しかし、期待心拍反応が見られない試行も多く、重度重複障害児の場合、期待心拍反応を、正確に見いだすことが困難であることが示唆された。これには、その日の体調等も影響を与えていると予測される。今後は、研究を一歩進めて、期待心拍反応が出たと思われる試行と出ていない試行の覚醒状態・体調等の基礎的な情報を加味して観察を行う必要性が感じられた。
