現状の紙の教科書において、小学校3・4年生の地域資料教科書を扱う社会科では他県の写真や事例が掲載されおり、子どもたちには理解しにくい。教科書の二次的利用としてデジタル化し、児童の身近な沖縄の写真・事例に取り替え、以下の活動を行った。地域資料のデジタル・アーカイブ化を進め、教科書のデジタル化により、地域資料と連携した教科書の構成、及びその利用の試行研究を行った。この研究により、今後の教科書のデジタル化の可能性に向けた基礎資料を得ることができた。研究成果として、(1)教科書の二次的利用の研究用としてのデジタル化(2)小学校3・4年生の地域資料の収集とデジタル化(3)地域資料のデジタル・アーカイブ化(4)教科書のデジタル化資料の沖縄資料へ置き換えた。(3)のデジタル・アーカイブを用いて地域の資料で置き換えた教科書のデジタル化を行った。(5)沖縄の資料で構成しデジタル化した教科書の教育実践に取組み検証授業を実施した。教育実践から指導上の問題点、児童の受けとめ方について調べた。(6)授業実現に向け、岐阜女子大学の協力によりipad用の教材を開発しipadの実用性について実証することができた。(7)デジタル化資料のよりよい教材としての評価・改善を行った。(8)改善のための調査として沖縄の資料に置き換えられデジタル化された教科書の利用に対する児童の意識調査や学習の自信度の調査を実施した。(9)改善方法を検討し、教科書の資料を地域資料に変換したときの学習指導上の問題点を考察し、その改善方法を検討した。今後、教科書のデジタル化を進めたとき、地域資料への変換はデジタル化により容易となる。この研究において、新しい地域の教科書としての利用の可能性を確認することができた。最後に、著作権への配慮として地域資料は、沖縄カリキュラム開発研究会の活動として、撮影・記録し、そのときに各対象物の著作権処理をする。そのため、研究グループの関係者は、全員準デジタル・アーキビストの資格を取得した。
