项目摘要

本研究の目的は、大学において一般の人々と科学技術を結びつける科学技術コミュニケーション活動の発展に向けた調査(情報収集)を行い、主に高校生、高専生を対象とした酵素反応を利用したバイオ燃料電池に関する公開実験を実践することである。本研究は、科学技術コミュニケーション活動の発展に向けた調査と、実践とで構成される。調査においては、科学技術情報を的確に受け止め精査し、相手に伝わる言葉で語り、コミュニケーションの機会をデザインするのに必要な3つの科学技術コミュニケーションスキル(コーディネーションスキル、プレゼンテーションスキル、マネジメントスキル)に関して、国内の事例を含めて情報収集した。次に、調査で得られた情報、および、調査で習得した科学技術コミュニケーションに関する基本的な知識とスキルを活用して、大学のオープンキャンパス時に電極上に酵素(グルコースオキシダーゼ)を固定化した酵素電極を利用したバイオ燃料電池に関する公開実験を行った(参加人数66名)。調査および実践を通して、大学において公開実験を行う際、より良い科学技術コミュニケーションを行う上で以下のことが重要であることがわかった。(1)研究を進める上での感じている知的好奇心や感動を伝える、(2)実験やデモンストレーションなどを直接体験してもらう、(3)研究成果と参加者の日常生活がどのように関わっているかを伝える、(4)研究生活の日常を伝えるなど。また、学生が公開実験を介して科学技術コミュニケーションを行うことにより、コミュニケーション能力のみならず、プレゼン能力や問題解決能力、社会貢献意欲などの能動的に獲得させることができることもわかった。
