筆者(吉村, 2008)は, 押谷(1994)を参考に, 特別支援学級の生活単元学習において, 【見通し(単元の全体計画)→活動①→道徳の時間①→活動②→道徳の時間②→まとめ】という, 活動と道徳の時間をパターン化して組み合わせる方法を考案し実践してきたが, その有用性は研究として実証されていない。そこで, 知的障害特別支援学級に焦点をあて, 単元の特質に応じた月に2～3回程度の「道徳の時間」を組み入れた生活単元学習の年間指導計画及び児童の実態と活動のねらいに即した「道徳の時間」1時間ずつの指導案を作成し, 公立小学校で授業実践し, 学級担任との面接をとおして, その有用性を検討することとした。その結果, 主に, 以下の3点について, その有用性を確認することができた。(1)授業への集中力が増加した活動を体験した後の道徳の時間の授業であったことから, その体験活動に類似した道徳教材資料(紙芝居で提示)の理解が進んだものと考えられる。(2)子供の主体的な考えと実践力が向上したこれまでの特別支援学級の道徳の時間の授業では, 「規制の面の道徳教育(藤永, 2009)」が多かった。しかし, 資料を用いることにより, 例えば, 「資料 ; 年老いた信号機(紙芝居)」の資料を用い, 信号機の視点から児童が主体的に安全について思考することができるようになった。(3)考えたことが実践できる場の確保につながった例えば, 「6年生を送る会(学校行事)」という体験→道徳の時間「資料 : きつねとぶどう」にて, 卒業生に「ありがとうと言いたい」という思いの高まり→「お別れ会で実践(学級で実施)」という具合に, 一度目の体験活動をもとに「道徳の時間」での資料をとおして思考したことにより, 自分の考えを深めるとともに実践力を高め, 2回目の体験活動で, その思いを実践に移すことが可能となった。この研究により, 「体験活動が, 資料をとおして主体的な思考を深める原動力となり, また, その思考が実践力を育み, さらに実践する場を確保することで道徳的な実践力が向上する」ということが明らかになった。
