平成12年4月に施行される介護保険法ではケアマネジメントが居宅介護支援として制度上に位置づけられる。従って、保健・医療・福祉など分野の異なる専門職の協働・連携によるチームケアを円滑かつ効果的に行うことは重要な課題である。しかし、多職種によるチームケアは様々な要因によって促進あるいは阻害されるため、またチームケアのアウトプットを客観的な指標で測ることが困難であったため、統計的な手法による調査は十分に行われてこなかった。そこで、探索的に多職種チームの実態とその機能に影響する要因を明らかにするため、社団法人日本社会福祉士会の協力を得て、会員に対して調査票を使用した郵送留め置き調査を行った。多職種チームがどの程度に機能しているかにっていは自己評価法によって測っているので、一定の限界があるものと考えられるが、これまでのチーム研究で指摘されているチームの機能に関する要因が有意に影響していることが明らかになり、多職種チームにチーム理論を適用する可能性が示された。チームに関する非常に多くの先行研究があるが、対人援助サービスを行う多職種チームについては、必ずしも十分な研究があるとは言えない。特に、実践現場で多職種チームを有効に機能させるために、介護支援専門員としての役割を期待されている社会福祉士などに、研修を通して多職種チームを機能させる手法を提供する研究が必要であることが分かった。
