分析対象とした授業に関する限りでは、授業場面に即してのみ表明された規範意識は「学校文化」の再生産を志向するものであり、一方「よい授業」として表明された規範は授業者自身の裁量の余地が相対的に広いものであった。あえて卑近な表現に言い換えれば、授業者は「本人にその気がなければ志向しなくてもすむこと」を標榜し、「たとえその気がなくても志向せずにはおれないこと」は授業場面に即して語るにとどまった。しかし、「よい授業」に含まれる規範には「学校文化」の再生産に寄与するものが含まれており、授業中の臨機的判断の際にも「学校文化」は「よい授業」に優先されていた。つまり、授業者自身が標榜している諸規範は、授業者が志向している規範のすべてでないのみならず、最優先の規範でさえなかった。このように、授業過程において授業者が複数の規範(学校文化と各自が標榜する授業像、ないしは標榜された授業像に含まれる複数の規範)を同時並行的に志向していることから、授業者の特定の指示がそれに先行する授業者自身の指示と矛盾する事態が派生していた。このような場面において授業者は、意図しているといないとにかかわらず、生徒に対してみずからの権力を誇示していた。さらに、諸規範の同時並行的志向が具体的な教授行動(続行中の活動制止)として顕在化した直接のきっかけが、生徒が授業者の指示に機敏に反応しない、言い換えれば授業者の権力を必ずしも承認していないことであったと明らかになった。つまり、権力の誇示は規範の同時並行的志向から派生した事態であると同時に、授業者自身の権力の動揺から派生した事態という側面を有していた。
