(1) 1950年代、黒人大衆音楽リズム&ブルースが白人若年労働者階級によって模倣され、ロックン・ロールの商標名で戦後の消費社会の価値観を持った若者に絶大な支持を得ていく過程を、旧い伝統的価値との対立関係を軸に1980年代まで叙述した論文の執筆。「ロック対アシチーロック-サブ・カルチャーのオーヴァー・カルチャー化における力学」(2) アフリカ産の民俗楽器であるバンジョーが、奴隷船の来港によってカリブ海の島々にもたらされ、さらにアメリカ合州国に伝播した。その後、南部プランテーションで音楽的発展を遂げたものが、北部在住の白人労働者階級に模倣されてミンストレルシーを形成した。やがて、奴隷解放後、バンジョーは都市白人サロンから農村黒人コミュニティまで幅広い人気を博し、20世紀に入るとジャズ、ヒルビリー等の新興大衆音楽に用いられるようになった。黒人-白人双方に用いられたバンジョーの文化的記号性について具体的に述べた論文の執筆。「バンジョー--合州国大衆音楽における人種文化の交差について」(3) 白人ロックに背を向ける形で1960年代に発展した黒人の人種意識が濃厚な大衆音楽ソウルの文化的固有性を探り、その発展形として1970年代に現れた短いリフを多用するアフリカ指向音楽ファンクを再定義する。さらに、社会性を増した1970年代後半からのラップについて、ソウル、ファンクに続く連続した黒人のアイデンティティ探求の運動としてとらえ、実証的に検証する論文の執筆(準備中)。
