本研究において,得られた成果は以下の諸点である.第一に,サパルタン研究における歴史的な諸資料,とりわけ先住民の「証言」の特質を,植民地主義的な知の諸形態への「従属」という側面だけでなく,支配一被支配を原理とする社会関係に還元されえないという意味での自律を文化的基層においた「抵抗」の契機をもつものとして,分析・解明した.サパルタン民衆の「証言」に端的に表現されているのは,「従属」を装いながらも,「従属」からはけっして生まれ得ない(未発の事態を含めての)「出来事の歴史」として考えられる.第二に,「サバルタン」という問題構成がもつ広がりが,種々の社会小集団さらには「個々人」のレベルにまで断片化された下層従属民の「自然発生性」と固有の文化的な力のはたらきとを踏まえなければならないものであることを明らかにした.とりわけ,「サバルタン」という問題を最初に提起したアントニオ・グラムシの「獄中ノート」の「第3期」にあたる,フォルミア医療監獄に移送・収監されていた時期に書かれた「特別ノート」の思想史的再読の作業を介して,個別の下層民運動ごとの「自然発生的」な結集に際して,その文化的契機を理解する決定的とも言える必要性を導き出した.第三に,1920年代ペルーの社会思想家であり政治家・批評家でもあったホセ・カルロス・マリアテギによる先住民社会の変容過程に関する理解が,コミンテルン型の潮流とは異なる「第三世界革命」に通底するものであり,先住民の自然発生的反乱と結合を基礎においた「先住民社会主義」が「サハルタンの政治」として考えられてきたことを明らかにした.すなわち,より広くには,第三世界における思想史研究とサバルタンの歴史研究との深い連関をさらに追求するべきことをも示している,という点を示すものとなっていることが導出された.
