平成10年度は,幼児の運動行動に関する観察者の情報量の差異が行動観察に基づく運動能力評価における推定値にどの程度影響を及ぼすのかを明らかにする目的で研究が進められた.対象は,平成9年度で用いた幼児の内,年長クラスに在籍する幼児であり,測定項目は同一項目を用いた.行動観察に基づく情報量が異なる条件を任意に作り出すために,いくつかの幼児の日常の運動場面(跳ぶ,走る,投げるなど)の撮影を予備実験として試みた.しかし,各幼児に対する情報量を一定にするために,任意に運動場面を作りだすことが日常の運動行動場面とは異なる状況を作り出すことになり,不自然であることが考えられたため計画を変更した.つまり,情報量の異なることによる妥当性の比較は,観察期間の異なる観察者(幼稚園教諭)の評価の妥当性を比較することにより検討した.年長児を対象にして観察期間が約3ヶ月(測定6月末),約6ヶ月(測定10月末),約11ヶ月(測定2月末)の場合の評価の妥当性を比較検討した.妥当性の程度は推定順位と実測値との相関係数と推定順位と実測値との対応関係により評価した.仮説として,観察期間が長いほどより妥当性の高い結果が得られることが予想された.しかし,観察期間による明確な差異は認められなかった.むしろ,観察期間が異なる場合であっても運動行動の観察に基づく評価が困難あるいは容易であるテスト項目(運動能力要素)は不変であることが本研究から示唆された.
