Theoretical advances in parton showers (B1d)

The importance of Monte Carlo event generators for particle physics in general and the Large Hardon Collider research programme in particular cannot be overstated. The parton shower is a crucial part of every generator. In this project, we intend to devise a parton shower with higher logarithmic accuracy by including interference effects and higher order splitting and soft functions. The conceptual work will culminate in an implementation in the framework of the well known generator Herwig.
