大阪府老人大学講座受講生323名(男性174名、女性149名、平均年齢66.3±4.3歳)に対し、口腔内調査および栄養摂取状況調査を行い次の結果が得られた。1.一人平均現在歯数および義歯装着状況調査対象者の現在歯数の平均は20.8±8.6本であった。義歯装着状況は、全部床義歯装着者(以下、CDとする。)は上顎9.4%、下顎8.4%、部分床義歯装着者(以下、PDとする。)は上顎26.6%、下顎32.3%、であり、上下顎のいずれかに義歯を装着している者が48.8%と全体の約半数を占めた。2.義歯の状態と栄養摂取状況歯列に欠損のない「天然歯群」と、上下顎のいずれかに有床義歯を装着している「義歯装着群」とを比較したところ、各栄養摂取量は、両群間で有意差はみられなかった。しかし義歯装着者の中では、エネルギーおよび各栄養摂取量は「咬合力大群」の方が「咬合力小群」に比べ大きくなり、男性ではタンパク質と鉄分について有意差が認められた(p<0.05)。義歯に対する「満足群」は「不満群」に比べてエネルギーの充足率は大きく、男性では有意差がみられた(p<0.05)。また女性では「満足群」は「不満群」に比べてタンパク質、鉄分およびビタミンAの摂取量が多く有意差がみられた(p<0.05)。以上の結果から、義歯が高齢者の食生活に有効に働き、健康に寄与するためには、主観的および客観的な評価の高い義歯による咀嚼機能の回復が必要であることが示された。

323 students (174 males, 149 females, average age 66.3 ± 4.3 years) were enrolled in the Osaka University for the Aged. 1. The average number of teeth per person is 20.8 ± 8.6. The status of dental prostheses and all dental prostheses is as follows: 9.4% of upper jaw, 8.4% of lower jaw, partial dental prosthesis (below, PD). 26.6% of the upper jaw, 32.3% of the lower jaw, 48.8% of the upper jaw, and about half of the lower jaw. 2. For females, there was a significant difference in the amount of "sex group" versus "sex group" compared with "sex group"(p <0.05). The above results show that the recovery of chewing function is necessary for the healthy and healthy people.
