【目的】本研究は、全国500大学を対象として障害を持つ学生に対する大学一般体育の授業の現状を明らかにし、問題点を抽出した。さらに有意抽出により障害を持つ学生による授業評価を実施し、障害を持つ学生の身体活動および授業に対するニーズを把握して、障害を持つ学生に対する授業の方向性について考察した。平成11年度のデータをもとに大学を卒業した障害を持つ学生32名を対象として生涯スポーツの実践の現状を明らかにして、大学体育系授業と生涯スポーツとの関連を明らかにして、障害を持つ学生の体育系授業のあり方について検討することを目的とした。【結果】32名の障害を持つ学生の卒業後のスポーツ実践について追跡調査を行った結果、高校までのスポーツ種目を継続している者が多く、卒業後新たな生涯スポーツ種目を始めたケースは3事例であった。この3事例とも友人に誘われて始めたケースであり、偶発的なスポーツの機会であったことが窺われた。大学体育系科目との関連は、影響を受けたが21.9%であり、実際に生涯スポーツへの導入に機能していないことが示唆された。その要因として1)障害を持った学生の「新しいスポーツ経験」には寄与したが、その後(卒業後)の方法論の情報不足、2)健常者とのスポーツ統合の社会的理解度の低さ、3)スポーツ知識を持ったボランティアの不足などがあがった。特に生涯スポーツ実践継続者は、中高校時代に障害スポーツに出会いそのスポーツを継続している者が多く、新たなスポーツ種目への展開が少ない。今後、障害者と健常者が一緒にできるスポーツ統合や障害者の新しいスポーツ参与の方法を検討し、大学体育系科目において教授していく必要がある。また、混合型授業を通して健常学生に対する障害スポーツへの理解を教育していく必要があることも示唆された。
