前年度までに行ってきたイギリス近代国籍法制の歴史的展開についての研究を総括する作業を行った。すなわち一七世紀初頭における近代的国籍法制の成立から、一応その体裁を最終的に整える役割を果たした一八七〇年帰化法の制定までの時期に至る期間のイギリス近代国籍法制の史的展開を一貫した視点から整理する作業である。ここで採られる基本的視座は、イギリスにおける近代国家形成のありようが、当該法制の展開を大きく規定した要因であったこと、とりわけイギリスが植民地帝国として膨張した事が、その最大の規定要因であったことである。このような基本視座の有効性をイギリスにおける国籍法研究と対照することで確認するための基本的な視座をこの二年度に渡る科学研究費補助金の公布によって達成することができた。
