2年間の研究により以下の知見を得た。旧北海道拓殖銀行(以下拓銀とする)の経営資料は、主に営業報告書・株式総会議事録・本店や旭川支店の貸付金元帳等からなり、本店・旭川支店の長期貸付先は、明治期は農家、大正期以降は土功組合が多かった。漁業金融として、明治期は小樽等の漁家への拓銀本店の長期貸付が見られたが量的には少なく、昭和戦前期は、厚田・札幌の漁業組合にまとまった金額の長期貸付が行われ、それら漁業組合を通して、各漁家に資金融通が行われたと考えられる。大正・昭和戦前期の北海道の漁場台帳を見ると、特に大正期から日本海沿岸の漁家が漁場を抵当に入れて拓銀小樽支店や本店から多額の借り入れを行い、昭和恐慌期に借入金返済が滞り、抵当に入れた漁場を同行小樽支店や本店に引き渡す漁家もいた。そして拓銀はそれを北海道合同漁業株式会社に引き継がせた。拓銀本店・旭川支店は貸付先に対し、複数の金利ランクを設定し、滞りがちの貸付金も長期間かけて回収に努め、厳しい基準を設けて抵当を採って貸出しており、戦前期の拓銀は、リスク管理を比較的明瞭に行っていたと言える。一方北海道・北洋漁業へ進出した北陸地方出身の船持商人と拓銀との関連では、北陸地方出身の船持商人は函館・小樽に拠点をおいた後に、函館では函館銀行に深く関わり、金融面で拓銀をあまり頼らなかった。彼らが為替手形の割引で拓銀を利用した場合はあったが、同行の漁業金融の貸付先は漁場抵当の確実性から北海道沿岸漁家を主とした。しかし昭和恐慌期に拓銀が政府預金部資金の経由機関としての役割が与えられ、昭和恐慌下で漁業経営が苦しくなった漁家や漁業組合が、漁業権を有利に手放すために現物出資で共同して北海道合同漁業株式会社や樺太共同漁業株式会社を設立すると、それらに拓銀は多額の長期貸付を行った。
