教育の経済学的分析は主に人的資本理論に基づいて行われ、それによって経済成長や所得分配の理論に貢献してきた。しかしながら一方では、このような理論的成果は義務教育水準では適合するが高等教育に対しては必ずしも適切ではないとの批判も存在している。したがって本研究では過去の理論的研究結果をふまえて研究対象を大学教育に拡大し経済モデルを構築した。その際、特に考慮した大学教育における特徴は(1)大学が担う教育と研究の役割(2)プレステッジの存在の2点である。それによって得られた結論は次のようである。まず、(1)を考慮したことにより、大学教育への公的支出は研究活動を通じて知識を生産するための人的資本の生産パラメータが、教育活動を通じて人的資本を生産する生産パラメータよりも大きければ、経済成長を促し社会厚生を高めるという結論を得た。また、(2)を考慮することによって18歳人口の減少が与える影響は大学全体に平等に及ぶものではないことが理論的に明らかになり、任意の時点で設立された大学は、プレステッジの高い大学ほど高い質の教育サービスを高い授業料で提供し、プレステッジの低い大学はその逆になるという結論を得た。さらに受験生が急に減少するとプレステッジの高い大学の質と授業料は一時的には低下するが、長期的には元の水準に戻ろうとする。それに対してプレステッジの低い大学の質は短期的にも長期的にも低下し、授業料はますます下落するという結論を得た。上記の研究成果は2000年度の日本経済学会秋季大会(於:大阪府立大学)および2001年度の日本経済学会秋季大会(於:一橋大学)等において報告を行った。

The analysis of educational economics is based on the theory of human capital, which contributes to the theory of income distribution. The results of compulsory education are suitable for higher education. This research is based on the results of previous theoretical studies and the research object of university education. The characteristics of university education are: (1) university education and research;(2) university education and research; and (3) university education and research. It's the first time I've seen it. In this paper, we consider that public expenditure on university education is related to research activities, knowledge production, human capital production, education activities, human capital production, social development and social welfare. (2) Considering the impact of population decline at the age of 18 on the equality and quality of all universities, the establishment of universities at any point in time and the provision of high-quality education services to high-level universities, the establishment of high-quality education services to low-level universities, and the establishment of high-quality education services to low-level universities. The quality of the university's teaching materials is low, and the quality of the university's teaching materials is low. The quality of the material is low. The results of this research were presented at the Autumn Conference of the Japan Economic Society in 2000 (Osaka Prefectural University) and the Autumn Conference of the Japan Economic Society in 2001 (Hitotsubashi University).
