平成12年度に作成したデータセットでは,売上高,経常利益,当期純利益等の経営指標は新規公開企業の財務諸表から得られた数値を直接用いていた。だが,新規公開企業に特有の傾向を明確にし,さらにマクロ経済動向の影響などもできるだけ除去するために,店頭市場(JASDAQ市場)の業種別売上高・経常利益・当期純利益等の平均値・中央値を算出し,新規公開企業のデータの調整を行った。修正したデータセットを用いて,新規公開企業の業績指標で測定した経営効率性ならびにガバナンス構造に関して,主として計量的な分析を行ったところ,以下の点が明らかになった。1.新規公開後に10大株主合計の持株比率は減少するが,公開後でも平均して60%以上であり,依然として株式所有は集中している。また,ベンチャーキャピタルが公開後に持株比率を減少させる一方,銀行は公開後に持株比率を増加させている。2.業種別の平均値・中央値で基準化した数値からも,公開後に新規公開企業の売上高・経常利益・当期純利益は急激に減少している。3.ガバナンス構造と業績の関係について,(1)公開後の筆頭株主持株比率は業績と正の相関がある,(2)公開前後での筆頭株主持株比率の変化は業績と正の相関がある,(3)公開後の10大株主持株比率は業績と正の相関がある,(4)公開後にベンチャーキャピタルが株式を保有している方が業績は高い。4.公開前,ならびに公開後ともに,株式時価総額と業績に正の相関がある。5.公開前,ならびに公開後ともに,営業年数・従業員数と業績に負の相関がある。
