英文摘要
The aim of the project is to provide a comprehensive study of the Epistula ad Ammaeum II of Dionysius of Halicarnassus – no such work exists at this time. The research will provide a historical-literary introduction, a critical edition, the first literary and philological-critical commentary on this letter as well as a German translation of its text. The introduction will focus on the addressee of the letter, the period when it was composed, its structure, content and genre, and provide an overview of the handwritten transmission of the work as well. The new edition will be based on the results of a complete recensio of all manuscripts and the autoptic study of the main textual witnesses of the Epistula. The commentary will cover both questions of textual criticism and exegetical aspects. More generally, the formative role and importance of this work of Dionysius for Greek and Roman rhetoric will also be covered.
