小学生の薬学教育を志向する団体との連携を図り、問題解決に向けて具体的な方策を探った。以下に、研究実績の概要を箇条書きにする。1.日本製薬工業協会との連携:同協会広報部が新たに企画した一般大衆向けホームページの監修役を務め、「くすりの体内運命」を正しく理解し、適正使用を推奨する内容を盛り込んだ。2.日本RAD-AR協議会との連携:同協議会事務局に協力し「児童を対象とする医薬品の適正使用推進活動」の実践に向けて海外の状況を調査し、国内の意見(日本製薬工業協会、日本大衆薬工業協会、日本学校保健会、全国養護教諭連絡協議会、東京都学校薬剤師会)を集約した。3.日本社会薬学会第21年会の活用:申請者は同年会の実行委員長として、シンポジウム「青少年の薬学教育」を企画立案した。過去2年間の調査で明らかになった各地の実践家が一堂に会した本シンポジウムは、標記に関するわが国初の活動報告と意見交換の機会となった。以上のような活動を通じて、義務教育におけるくすり教育の必要性が次第に社会に浸透する徴候が見られるようになった。上記シンポジウムに参加した団体の活動が全国紙に掲載されたり、TVで放映されたりするようになった。研究代表者が最も注目しているのは、平成15年度から小学校の総合学習の時間を活用して、小学生が学ぶべき社会の専門職業のなかに「薬剤師」の名称が明記されたことである。これによって学校薬剤師などへの授業依頼が増えると予想されるので、今後できるだけ早い機会に正確で理解しやすいA2〜A3版「小学生のくすりの適正使用」を図解したフリップ製作を進めることとする。
