项目摘要

今年度は3年にわたる本研究の成果として、冊子体の報告書を作成した。以下はその概要である。まず金遣いと銀遣いの意味であるが、流通貨幣の多寡からではなく、基準貨幣を金とするか銀とするか、という意味におくとすれば、その本格的な確立は銀が価値基準である「銀目」に変容した18世紀後半以降に求めるべきである。17世紀については、寛文期(1661〜73)の金安状況と商品流通の拡大が北国・伊勢などへの金の浸透をもたらした。また18世紀後半以降の金遣い圏の中心江戸と銀遣い圏の中心大坂の金銀相場はほぼ連動しているが、その原因について新保博氏の貨幣現送によるバランスの回復説に対し、銀遣い圏においては払底した銀貨幣の変わりに銀目手形で金が買われていた状況から疑問を呈した。江戸・大坂の銭相場もほぼ連動するが、金銀相場の影響により相反する状況を見せていることを確認した。銀遣い圏においては18世紀半ば以降の銭安状況において、地域の中核的町場・仲間・市場などで広範に通用相場という独自相場を設定し、大坂相場に連動させながらそれより銭高の仕掛けをして、銭安を緩和し銭遣いの庶民の生活安定や商業上の利益を獲得していた。ところが金遣い圏の各地の銭相場では銭高仕掛は確認できず、江戸より銭安金高の相場となっている。江戸銭相場との連動性は認められるが、三河国刈谷などの遠隔地では、独自の貨幣状況により大幅な銭安状況となっていた。結果として、金遣い圏と銀遣い圏で格差が開いている。仲間・市場の通用相場は、銭相場だけでなく、金銀相場が設定されているが、これは銀目商品代価を計数銀貨を含む金貨との換算相場であるが、地方の荷主との決済のための相場であった。大坂から地方の荷主に支払いをする場合、銀安に仕掛けているケースがある。以上、いくつかの論点や問題点を提出することができたのが一番の成果であり、今後の研究の前提となる。また本研究で収集した貨幣相場は、別添報告書にデータベース化して添付した。
