1.16年度までに実施した農民参加による地方品種遺伝資源管理の組織にかかる既存文献の収集・分析を継続した。また、雑誌Euphytica等に地方品種(Landrace)の定義について多くの論文を発表している元ワーゲニンゲン大学Zeven氏との意見交換を行った。Zeven氏の定義では、近代育種を行うこととLandraceという用語は矛盾することになり、今後長野県の地方や最品種のハイブリッド種子生産を国際的な遺伝資源保全の枠組みで発表する際には用語の説明が必要であることが判明した。2.オランダやドイツにおける有機農業者(Bio-dynamicを含む)や家庭菜園(hobby gardener)に利用されている品種種子供給および育種のシステムと、わが国の地方野菜のような地域における地方品種利用システムの相違を明らかにした。Bio-dynamic農業では、作物自身およびその人間との調和が品種選択の基準となっており、個々の農家の目が重要となっている。一方、ドイツ等においては、調査した範囲では地域特有の野菜を伝統的な栽培地域で継続的に利用するというアイデアはほとんど見られなかった。3.昨年度に続き、長野県内の地方品種の遺伝資源の利用状況を調査し、ハイブリッド種子の導入が生産を増加させている事実と、同時に品種の保全や改良が行われても、深刻な後継者不足から伝統品種の栽培そのものが危機にさらされている状況も明らかになった。対象とした野菜は、ダイコンに加えて、カブ、ナスビ、ネギ等である。今後は、農村の社会経済の現状の中での持続可能な遺伝資源管理の方策を模索していく必要がある。4.長野県におけるF1化を利用したダイコン4品種の遺伝資源保全と栽培の継続についてその経緯と手法、その後の栽培状況の変化をまとめ、地方品種のF1化が遺伝資源の域内循環を持続させるひとつのシステムとして可能性があることを示し、その中での大学・民家種苗会社の役割を明確にし、結果概要をSABRAOでポスター発表した。
