项目摘要

生成文法理論における最新の文法モテル(Chomsky(2000,2001,2004,and 2005))を仮定し、その理論的帰結を主に補文化辞消去を類型論的に捉える試みを通して探り、その試みは廣江(2007)として結実した。英語、ドイツ語、イタリア語、スペイン語といった言語における補文化辞消去に関するデータを収集し、上述の理論的枠組に則りながら検討を加えた。その結果、各言語において補文化辞消去が可能かどうかは、これまで一貫して主張してきた「復元可能性の条件(Recoverability Condition:RC)」というインターフェイス条件(あるいは判読可能性条件(legibility Conditions))のみでは十分ではなく、各言語の法体系に存在し、ある種の「運用の用請(performance requirement)」として位置付けられる「法階層(mood hierarchy)」をも考慮する必要があるとの主張を行った。また、本研究では、補文化辞消去という、文法の中核的な構造と言える部分にもたんなるパラメター設定では説明できない言語変異があることを明らかにし、言語の多様性を捉えうる文法理論とはどのような特性を備えていなければならないかを考察し、Inada and Imanishi(2003)で提案されている文法モデルが望ましいとする結論に至った。本研究における理論的貢献は、補文化辞消去現象を正しく捉えるためには、最新の文法モデルでは不備があることを指摘するものとなった。最新の文法モデルでは、syntaxで形成された対象物がLFインターフェイス-を介して概念・意図体系から解釈を受け、その後、運用体系へと送られる。しかし、補文化辞消去に関する本研究は、各言語で異なる運用上の用請、語彙的形態の相違、といったことを考慮する必要があることを示し、かつこれまで仮定とれていた類型論的に近い距離にある類似言語が、実は、補文化辞消去に関する事実(つまり、法階層)を詳細に分析すれば、異なる類型が存在する知見が得られた。

The most recent grammar theories in generative grammar theory (Chomsky(2000,2001,2004,and 2005)) define the main structure of the theory, complement the cultural term elimination, and type theory.
