本研究は、日本の住空間における方位の意味づけや、方位観にかかわる慣習である家相説について明らかにすることを目的としている。本年度は近世の家相文献における家相考鑑の際の吉凶判断の内容を明らかにし、同時代の庶民信仰の内容との比較検討を通して、近世の観相における家相説の位置づけを明確にすることに重点をおき、次の4項目について研究を進めた。(1)家相文献の完全なコレクションはないため、昨年度に引き続き本年度も史・資料の収集と分類の作業を進め、資料整備を行った。(2)近世の庶民信仰に関わる文献資料の収集も行い、近世以降の庶民信仰関連事象のうち、特に住まいやまちづくりの記述の検出作業に着手した。さらに住まいや敷地の方位観に言及するものを抽出し、同時代の観相家の記述する家相説の内容との類似点、相違点を比較検討する作業を進めるためのデータ整理に着手した。(3)吉凶判断の内容分析と、吉凶判断の目的について一定の分類を行った。(4)比較対象となる近世の庶民信仰において希求・忌避されたものの内容分析にも着手した。上記の検討を通して、家相考鑑における吉凶判断の内容、特に住まいやまちづくりに際する方位観のあり方に関わる分析作業が進み、方位観への関心の有無、方位による吉凶の認識とその解決方法の教示の役割を果たす観相家の存在が明らかになった。なお、敷地選定並びにまちづくりに関する方位観の有無等の調査分析は緒についたばかりであり、一定の成果を得るには至っていない。この結果、本年度は次の発表の機会を得た。(1)都市住宅学会HP「親子のすまいかた教室」「方位と住まい」(1)よい敷地(2)庭づくり(3)自然条件と住まい
