実際の作業に近い校正読み課題を行い、どのような要因が校正読みにおける誤字検出に影響しているかを調べた。実際的な文章を作成するため校正のエキスパートに予備調査を行い、さまざまな要因を同時に備えた誤字を含む文章を用いた。想定した要因は、文脈理解レベル(誤字検出に必要な処理範囲)、漢字における音韻、形態、意味、実在性、平仮名における位置、連続数である。非専門家を被験者に課題を行って誤答率(見落とし率)や検出時間を計測し、重回帰分析によって要因の影響度を調べた結果、文脈理解レベル、音韻、平仮名位置、平仮名連続数の効果が示された。これにより、誤字検出のために必要な処理範囲が広がるにつれて検出が難しくなること、漢字では同音より異音の誤字の検出が難しいこと、平仮名において同文節に漢字がなく平仮名の連続数が長くなると検出が困難になることが分かった。校正のエキスパートを被験者に同様の実験を行ったところ、エキスパートは誤字検出能力が高く、文を読まなくては検出できない漢字誤字の検出力に特に差があることが示された。この研究成果の一部は、すでに「基礎心理学研究」に論文掲載が決定したが、今後更に国際会議で発表し、学術論文化する予定である。また、眼球運動を測定しながら、移動窓法によって視野制限する文章校正実験を通常の被験者で行った結果、校正読みの有効視野は通常の読みよりも広く、読み返しも多かったが、これは校正読みでは、常に一定量の文脈を読み返し、処理中の単語と照合することにより、誤字の有無を確認するプロセスが存在することを示していると考えられる。この研究成果は、国際会議(The 28th Annual Conference of the Cognitive Science Society)などで発表した。今後、学術論文化する予定である。
