项目摘要

公立小学校での英語活動のグループ実習を、「英語科教育法I」として2年次前期に、「英語科教育法II」として2年次後期に継続して実施し、3年次の教育実習における教壇実習にスムーズに発展させる教員養成カリキュラムとすることができた。このような段階的な教育実習は、平成21年度から実施される岩手大学教育学部のカリキュラム改革に取り入れられ、また、新たな科目「小学校の英語入門」も設置することとなった。Task-based approach, Participatory approach, group work, reflectionなどの理論から得た知見をもとに、現場の協力を得て教材を開発し、学生の実習を経て、研究成果の検討を行った。平成17・18年度に実施した総合演習「国際」の中で取り上げた三陸の町田老の大津波生存者である田畑ヨシさんの紙芝居「つなみ」を英訳し、パワーポイントによる教材として、タイ国の中等学校における英語教育実習において使用した。この英語教育実習「プアン・プログラム」については、岩手大学が主催した「国際シンポジウム:持続可能な未来ための教育」において発表した(使用言語は英語、2007年8月31日)。さらに、紙芝居「つなみ」に解説を付け加え、絵本として出版し(2008年3月)、絵本は岩手県沿岸部の小学校や教育委員会、および、タイ・フィリピン・インドネシア・インドの学校関係者に寄贈した。今後、教員養成の中で活用する他、地域(岩手県)および海外の教育現場での活用を支援する予定である。英語科教育だけでなく防災教育の担い手としての教員養成という課題にも応える意義があり、絵本「つなみ」の出版は、NHK盛岡でも取り上げられ、一般市民にも注目された。本研究の成果である開発教材や教員養成プログラムについては、ウエッブ上でも公開し、広く一般にも活用できるようにした。
