The project intends to digitize finding aids of important fonds kept in the department Staatsarchiv Freiburg of the Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg. Generated data will appear on various platforms such as the Landesarchiv´s online information system (https://www2.landesarchiv-bw.de), the Archivportal-D (https://www.archivportal-d.de) and the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek (https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de). The selected finding aids provide access to documents that are most relevant for scientific research. Their range covers the period from the late Middle Ages into the 20th century. On the one hand, the project deals with finding aids on charters of the fond StAF T 100, Gayling von Altheim'sches Gesamtarchiv Ebnet (Oberrheinisches Adelsarchiv). These charters mostly originate from the Upper Rhine region with some exceptions from Hessia and Franconia. Their importance derives not from their geographic range alone, but also from the social networks and relations of the families that granted or collected them. On the other hand, the project aims to digitize finding aids on Nazi Germany. The selected two fonds StAF F 202/2 Oberfinanzdirektion Freiburg: Abteilung LVB, parts 1 and 2 concern the dispossession of Jewish belongings from 1933 to 1945 as well as the efforts of restitution after the war. Thus the documents offer insight into the fate of individuals during the Nazi regime and are already highly demanded by archival researchers. The project provides substantial benefits by including important digital archival descriptions in the context of previously digitized core fonds within the Staatsarchiv Freiburg and other departments of the Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg. The project significantly enhances the Landesarchiv´s online services. Scientific research about various topics will be facilitated.
