Web上で療養記録が実施できる症状管理サイトを作成し、RA患者の記述した内容を分析することで病気や症状がコーピングに与える影響を明らかにするため調査している。現在、まだ調査は継続中であるが途中の経過を報告する。PCや携帯の画面で使用できるよう作成した。「今日の体調」をクリックすると日々の症状(痛み・痛む関節の場所・数・その他記述データ)と天候・気分・活動度を毎日入力できる。入力した数値データはパソコン上で月間グラフとして、また記述データはテキスト内容を見ることができ、A4サイズ1枚にプリントアウトもできる。このため療養記録として診察に持参することもできる。研究対象者:Web上に自発的に登録する者と入院RA患者のうちWeb上の症状管理サイトへの記述を説明し承諾した者としている。以下(1)〜(6)の内容について現在、データを収集中である。(1)Webサイトへの使用頻度の集計(2)記述文字数(3)記述内容のカテゴリー分け(4)天候や痛みと症状との相関(5)診療内容や療養生活と症状との関連(6)Webサイト改良のため生活上の利点欠点、診療場面利用への有効性など研究協力者の感想を聴くリウマチ患者にとっても自身でも把握が困難だったRA患者の病状変化をセルフモニタリングにより自身で分析でき、病を悪化させている要因を客観的に分析することができる。また、それを診療場面に活かすこともできる。例えば天候・痛み・薬物療法と症状との関連など系統的な把握が可能になる。個別対応型であり、より深く正確な情報がプライバシーを保持しながら得る事が出来ると考える。
