项目摘要

最終年度となる今年度は、黎明期(前7世紀半ば〜前5世紀)の古代マケドニア王国史を、断片的な文献史料と近年の考古資料との整合性の検証を軸として解明するという研究目的のため、前年度までに行なったマケドニア王国の建国神話についての分析と、マケドニア王国に関する考古資料の整理・検討を踏まえて、建国神話と考古資料の整合性を検証しながら神話の史実性についてさらに考察を深めた。建国神話を中心とした史料から読み取れる初期のマケドニア王国史について、ギリシア世界との関係という側面からも考察し、その成果は、論文「前5〜4世紀のマケドニアとギリシア世界」(平成21年度掲載予定)にまとめた。また、これまでの考察を総括したうえで、初期のマケドニア王国の「独自性」について、マケドニア王家と貴族層というエリート社会に焦点を絞って検討し、同時代のポリス世界とは異なるマケドニアの社会のあり方を、論文'Social Customs and Institutions:Some Aspects of Macedonian Elite Society'(平成21年度掲載予定)にまとめた。これらの作業を通して、マケドニア人のアイデンティティという、今後の研究につながっていく大きな問題についても考察し、初期のマケドニア王国における彼らのアイデンティティの形成・展開過程がその後のマケドニアとギリシア世界の関係史において重要な意味を持つことを明らかにした。
