项目摘要

本研究は、(1)理論面での研究、(2)民族誌的データの収集と分析、(3)(1)と(2)の総合、からなる。(1)に関しては、新たに科学論の研究成果を、社会学における再帰性・自己言及性の論点と架橋する可能性について検討した。観光研究は、研究することが研究対象にたいして与える負の影響関係を議論に取り込んでいく必要がある。その議論展開の可能性は、科学のテクノサイエンス化の問題や、フーコーのいう反科学との連関において主題化しうる、という見通しを得るにいたった。(2)については、沖縄本島・与論島・久米島・渡嘉敷島において資料収集作業を行った。なお、別の研究奨励金をもとに、インドネシアのバリ島および沖縄の宮古島においても、若干の資料収集作業を行った。国内・国外のいずれも、長雨や台風のために予定通りの十分な活動とはならなかったが、沖縄地域に関しては、とくに与論島および久米島において文献資料収集と現地の人々へのインタヴューおよび参与観察を行った。これらの地域に関するデータが相当の厚みをもち、その結果、これら沖縄地域の島々とバリ島とを、「楽園」をキーワードにして結び付ける議論を構想するにいたった。(3)について。3年間の継続的な研究によって、既存の観光人類学・観光社会学が、テクノサイエンス化の問題を看過し、再帰的な議論枠組みを構築しえていないこと、また既存のバリ研究や沖縄研究にも、そうした論理が不在であることがわかった。本萌芽研究では、そのような論点を新たに盛り込み、バリや沖縄の「楽園」と呼ばれる観光地を題材とした、創発的な議論の構築に向けての土台を築くことができたと考える。成果の公表を含め、次年度以降に、あらためて本萌芽研究の具体的な展開をはかっていく所存である。
