项目摘要

本研究の主目的は、西太平洋地域において広帯域・広ダイナミックレンジ・ディジタル地震観測網を配置して、その運営を開始するための具体的方法を検討することにある。前年度に引き続き、インドネシア・ソ連両国との交渉を行ない、特にインドネシアについては具体的な設置場所の選定もほぼ終了し設置に向けて大きく前進した。広帯域地震観測システムの開発・性能向上のための観測を、前年度に続き東京大学地震研究所筑波地震観測所で行ない多数の広帯域地震記録を観測した。さらに、同白木地震観測所にも同様の観測システムを設置してテストを行なった。1990年7月フィリピン地震・1990年4月マリアナ地震,1989年10月〜11月三陸沖群発地震の解析を同観測システムで記録した広帯域地震記録を用いて行ない、これらのデ-タがグロ-バル及びロ-カルを問わず地震の解析にきわめて有効であることを示した。海外における観測を可能とするために、全世界中で刻時の得られるオメガ電波を利用した時計のテストを行ない、安定した精度の良い刻時デ-タが得られる事を確認した。さらに、観測システムのリモ-トメインテナンスを可能にするために、観測システムのOSを改善し、電話回線を利用して地震計の検定・出力の変換・観測システムプログラムの更新などが容易に行なえる様に改良を加えた。デ-タ圧縮方式にも改良を加え、20Hzサンプリングレ-トで連続デ-タを収録できるようにした。以上の観測システムの改良により、海外において広帯域地震観測を行なう遠隔自動デ-タ収録の観測システムが完成した。この観測システムを国際学術研究でインドネシアに設置する予定である。デ-タ・ライブラリは関連する諸機関の協力により、選択した地震についての広帯域地震記録を収集して、そのデ-タ交換を実現した。具体的には、1989年に発生したマグニチュ-ド7以上の地震についてデ-タ交換を行ない、研究者への便をはかった。
