The aim of this investigation to elucidate the role of central imidazoline receptrors (IRs) on halothane-epinephrine arrhythmias in the dogs. The results of our investigation is as follows.1-Intarvenous administration of rilmenidine, which is selective IRs agonist prevent halothane-epinephrine arrhythmias dose dependent manner.2-The antiarrhythmic effect of rilmenidine is blocked by intracicternal idazoxan, an IRs antagonists, but not rauwolscine, a classical a2 adrenoceptor antagonist.These results suggest that rilmenidine prevents halothane-epinephrine arrhythmias through central IRs.
