地域住民のスポーツ活動に関する研究は、これまで体育社会学や社会体育論の領域において、数多くの研究成果が出されてきた。しかし,それらの多くは,地域における社会・経済的分析,さらには地域住民の生活分析を欠いたものであった。スポーツ活動は,生活と深いかかわりをもちながら存在するものであり、生活との関連で捉えなければ意味をなさない。という視点にたって、これまで農村地域住民の生活とスポーツ活動を明らかにしてきた。今回は漁村地域住民に焦点を当て,北海道における典型的な漁村である羅臼町を調査対象地域として、羅臼町住民の生活とスポーツ活動実態を明らかにすることを目的として、以下の調査を実施し分析した。1.対象地域である北海道羅臼町の社会構造を分析した。(沿革・地勢,人口・世帯,産業構造等)2.羅臼町の社会体育の変遷と社会体育の現状分析をした。(スポーツ団体組織,スポーツ施設,スポーツ指導者等)3.羅臼町住民の生活とスポーツ活動の実態把握のため,生活とスポーツに関するアンケート調査を実施した。以上の作業は、ほぼ完了に近づき、平成6年度の学会での報告,並びに論文として投稿する予定である。
