語彙部門において、各語彙項目についての統語的・意味的情報がどのように指定されるべきかを、統語構造に反映される語彙情報に焦点を当てて検討した結果、以下のような結論が得られた。(1)動作主・被動体・起点・着点等の主題役に言及する統語現象は存在しないように思われる。つまり、主題役のリストという形の語彙情報は独立のレベルとして設定する必要はない。(2)「厳密下位範疇化」と呼ばれる統語情報(語彙項目がとる補部の統語範疇のリスト)は、「格」を必要としないと考えられる補文と前置詞句との分布を正しく記述するために、必要である。(3)項構造のレベルで規定される概念は、従来外項=主語、直接項=名詞句、間接項=前置詞句、という形で「厳密下位範疇化」で指定される情報と実質的な差があるか否か、はっきりしない側面があったが、補文(that節、wh節、不定詞句等)の分布を検討すると、統語範疇としては同じCP/IPであっても直接項のふるまいをするものと、間接項のふるまいをするものとがあり、項構造が厳密下位範疇化とは別のレベルとして必要であることが判明した。(4)意味分析として語彙概念構造の情報が必要であることは議論の余地がないが、統語現象の記述にその情報が必要であるか否かは、現段階では結論を出すに十分な証拠がなく、今後の検討課題として残った。
