Family Mediation is a service technology intended to help divorcing couples resolve their disputes. Over the past twenty years, family mediation has become increasingly prominent, moving from the periphery into the mainstream in U.S.A.The many recent research has shown that mediation is a highly effective approach from several viewpoints such as agreement rate, client satisfaction, cost and time. Particularly, We have to note that many family mediation programs in U.S.A.try to develop the conduct of mediation process, standards of practice, the minimum gualification of mediators, the effective way of mediator training, evaluation system now.We have a long history of family mediation in Japan. but We have to reconsider our practice of family mediation with the reference to the recent developments of family mediation in United States.

家事调解是一种服务技术，旨在帮助离婚夫妇解决他们的纠纷。在过去的二十年里，家庭调解在美国变得越来越突出，从边缘进入主流。最近的许多研究表明，从协议率、客户满意度、成本和时间等多个角度来看，调解是一种非常有效的方法。特别值得注意的是，美国的家事调解项目在调解程序的进行、调解员的执业标准、调解员的最低资格、调解员的有效培训方式、调解员的评价体系等方面都有了很大的发展。但我们必须参考美国家事调解的最新发展，重新考虑我们的家事调解做法。
