「池の埋め立て」や「工場や家庭からの排水による水質汚濁」の進行で、水域を舞台とした自然の営みを学べるフィールドが、市街地でますます得にくくなっている。そこで、どの地域にもある学校のプールに着目し、それを「水域における自然の営みを学ぶための教材」として生活科や理科で活用するための基礎研究を行った。以下のようにプールの実地調査と、それに基づく教材化を進め、教師用冊子を作成した。1.京都市内の約30の小中学校について、プールの生物相および水中環境条件を調査した。2.そのうち1校については、季節を追って継続的に、プールの生物相(原生動物、輪形動物、水生昆虫、藻類等)および水中環境条件(水質、水温等)を調査した。3.ヤゴについては市内の学校プール(25校でヤゴを確認)における種類相調査(タイリクアカネ、ギンヤンマ、シオカラトンボ、アキアカネ、ナツアカネ、ノシメトンボの6種を確認)、および市内における種類ごとの分布調査を行った。さらにタイリクアカネについては、プール周辺での成虫の行動の観察、採卵および孵化から3齢までの飼育も行った。4.1〜3の実地調査の結果を指導要領や教科書の内容等と関わらせながら、「プールを生活科や理科における自然教育教材として活用する」という観点から、学習活動モジュールを考案した。5.研究協力者が、「プールでのヤゴの採集や、羽化までの飼育活動を取り入れた授業の実践」を小学校の生活科と理科で試みた。6.1〜5の成果に基づいて、プールを自然教育の教材として活用するための、小中学校の教師用冊子(約40頁)を作成中である(3月末に完成予定)。
