1.史料調査:川上村については、これまでの調査の過程で集落の位置(流域・吉野川沿岸か山腹か)等の要素に基づく地域性を配慮した史料調査の必要が判明し、過去2年間の調査で欠落していた地域の史料に焦点をしぼり、上谷中谷家文書、白屋横谷家文書、大滝区有文書を調査した。一方、従来の吉野林業研究では川上村のみが対象とされる傾向が強かったが、吉野林業論の一層の深化・一般化を図るため、同じ吉野林業でもだいぶ史的展開を異にする黒滝・東吉野両村にもフィールドを広げ史料蒐集を進めた。黒滝村では、寺戸田野家文書をはじめ、長瀬区有文書、御吉野久保家文書、堂原蓮光寺文書、大字笠木区有文書等を調査した。東吉野村では、小(おむら)区有文書・谷家文書・盛口家文書、伊豆尾区有文書、小川郷木材林産協同組合所蔵史料を調査することができた。2.聞き取り調査:東吉野村(小川郷)において、山村集落の特徴的な自治形態を見出した。吉野地方では、近世以来人工造林が展開していく過程で立木と林地(底土)との所有権が分離し、明治以降まず立木が、続いて林地までも村外に流出していくのが一般的とされてきた。ところが小川郷では林地の村外流出が開始される明治末期から大正期において、これを阻止するため入会地はもちろん各個人所有の林地まで村(大字)持とし、さらに財団法人化して管理・運営をはかり今日に至る集落がいくつかある。その結果、林野利用において山元の主体性が一定程度保持され、村(大字)経済・財政の上で大きな影響を与えている。3.総括作業:川上村の史料について整理・分析を進め、史料集刊行の準備を進めた。また吉野林業と一括されるものの各郷によって大きな差異のあることを見出したため、今後吉野川流域における林業・山村の史的展開をより一般的に究明するため、方法を検討した。

A survey of the characteristics of the autonomous form of the mountain village colony in Higashiyoshino Village (Ogawa) was conducted. Yoshino Prefecture, since modern times, artificial afforestation has been carried out in the process of standing trees and forest land (subsoil) and all kinds of separation, Meiji to fall into the standing trees and forest land outside the village. The outflow of forest land outside the village began at the end of Meiji period, and the village was held by each person. As a result, the main body of the mountain element is maintained to a certain extent, and the village (big character) is greatly affected by the financial situation. 3.
