项目摘要

1.史料発掘大山林地主の一つ五條市栗山家、並びにこれまで調査の及ばなかった西吉野村の地方文書について閲覧の交渉に当たり、来年度調査できることになった。2.史料調査大山林地主の史料としては、前年度の谷家に続き、御所市の中野家文書を調査することができた。中野本・分家は18世紀より吉野地方の山林集積を始め、文政期に両家の当主が相次いで亡くなるという経営危機に際し、両家の山林の一定部分を「仲間山」と称して共同で管理する機構を作り出した。これが後の中野林業係、今日の中野林業株式会社の基礎となる。帳簿の記載様式が早くから整い、特に明治より昭和初期にかけての経営発展期の詳細な帳簿類が多く残されている。ほかには、吉野町において9件の個人所蔵文書・区有文書を調査した。吉野川中流域の山林経営・区有林経営・材木商経営の実態を明らかにする上で貴重な史料が多い。整理・分析収集した史料を所蔵者別に編年ファイルした。それらの中から特に重要なものを体系的に編集し、史料集を作成した。第4巻は大山林経営谷家文書と題し刊行した。第5巻は明治期吉野林業論集として近々刊行予定であり、村定を軸にした第6巻の原稿化を終えた。今後の計画今年度史料発掘をしたものの閲覧できなかった史料については、本研究の延長上で活用することとし、本年6月刊行予定の史料集第6巻をもって本研究のまとめとしたい。その上で、史料集全6巻を合綴して、報告書を作成する。
