Geographical Study on Non-Agriculturization of Rural Areas in Japan

本研究旨在从农村的非农业特征出发，分析日本的乡村空间。近年来，日本农村地区发生了迅速的变化，影响这些农村地区的一些过程具有农村空间的非农业化过程的特征，这些过程同时与国家层面的社会经济条件变化相结合，如交通创新的普及、国家土地利用的城市化和高科技（包括农业技术）的快速发展。在研究的第一年，我们深入调查了一些不同类型的农村（山区、水稻种植区、都市农村和水果种植区），并尝试了一些汇总水平的统计分析。第二年，这些调查的结果以研究论文的形式发表，并于1987年10月出版了一本题为《日本农村空间》的书。我们将继续研究先进社会的乡村空间，在更全面的区域框架下阐明其动态特征。

The aim of this study is to analysc the rural space of Japan in terms of non-agricultural characters of rural areas. The rural areas of Japan have rapidly changed on recent years, and a number of processes affccting these rural areas are characterized as non-agriculturization processes of rural space, which are combined at the same time with the national-lavel changes of socio-economic conditions, such as popularization of transport innovations, urbanization of national land-use and rapid development of high tcchnologies (including agricultural technologies).In the first year of this research period, we have investigated intensively a number of rural areas of several types (mountain region, rice cultivationg areas, metropolitan rural areas and fruit cultivationg areas) and also tryed some aggregate-level analysis using statistical data. In the second year, the findings of these investigations have been published as research articles listed in verso, and a book entitled Japanese Rural Space was also published in October 1987. We will continue the study on the rural space of advanced societies to elucidate its dynamic characters in terms of more comprchensive regional frameworks.
