Study on Thesaurus for Retrieval System of Bibliographical Information in Health and Physical Education

The purpose of this study was to make a thesaurus of health and physical education, effecively to circulate bibliographical information of health and physical education in Japan. So far the following works have been doen:1) Keywords of health and physical education that have been registered in EDMARS data-base by investigators were surveyed regarding to frequencies of use of those words, and the results were reported in a Subcommittee Meeting in JAPAN SOCIETY OF EDUCATION INFORMATION, 1987.2) According to the classified cord table used in JAPANESE SOCIETY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION, the keywords registered by investigators and new keywords selected from some dictionaries in health and physical education have been pigeonholed investigating the interrelations between broader and narrower terms(Ref. JAPAN SOCIETY OF EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION, VOL. 4, 1988).3) On the other hand, the reference retroeval system(NIRS) by using a microcomputer has been developed in a field of health and physical education by T.Goto(ref.: GIFU UNIV. CRDC RES. BULL., VOL.6, 1988, and CRDC DATA REPORT, NO. 197, 1989). Therefore, the arrangement of keywords corresponding to this system(NIRS) was also done in addition to above works.4) Finally, the Japanese thesaurus having tree-composition(broader and narrower) of keywords in hatlth and physical education had constructed and shown in this research report. However, it is suggested that further discussion regarding to the inerrelations between broader and narrower terms is necessary in future.
